Abstract
The aim of my thesis was to examine how the work against violent extremism was applied at the municipal level and how this work can be used to reduce risk as the threat of violent extremism pose. My object of study is two municipalities, Malmö stad and Örebro kommun. In terms of size they are different but they both share the experience of the challenges of violent extremism and therefore fulfill an important criterion for me in my quest to provide the opportunity for generalization of the findings that this study intends to contribute.

In Malmö, the everyday work has come to revolve around the local support phone while Örebro built up a competence center working width. Both municipalities, however, have chosen to invest in education in relation to specific professions to work both with the immediate but also preventive. (Less)
