- Abstract
- The purpose of this study has been to examine how Swedish newspapers and tabloids have constructed gaming problem during the year 2016. We have studied how the press describe the game, the problematic player and the different stakeholders of this social problem. We have used social constructionism as a theoretical perspective in our analysis. A qualitative content analysis was used to analyze 18 articles from different newspapers. In our results we see what characteristics the press gives the problematic player, for example depression andanxiety. The gaming problem is furthermore described by the press as addictive and risky.
