Abstract
The aim of this study was to describe and analyze the social work that took place with unaccompanied children autumn 2015. I have taken a qualitative approach to answer the questions in this study. The study is based on five interviews with social workers and staff, working in homes with unaccompanied minors. Two main themes are discussed and these themes are: The effects of migration of unaccompanied minors autumn 2015 on the social work and how social workers handled the unaccompanied children in autumn 2015. The result of the study reveals the impact of the migration of unaccompanied minors in autumn 2015, which has led to Sweden changing its refugee policy. The result of the study reveals the impact of the migration of unaccompanied minors in autumn 2015, which has led to Sweden changing its refugee policy. Some of those changes are laws that restrict immigrants to enter and remain in Sweden. The social work was affected and a lot of the decisions that were made were made in a hurry, which affected the quality of the work. The social workers felt that they didn’t perform a skilled work with the unaccompanied. An action space also played a large part in the meeting that took place, due to how the organization was structured. The social workers felt they had a large action space during the autumn of 2015 and that a lot of the time they were left to make the decisions by themselves because the organization was lacking a leader, structure and that there was a lot of pressure on them. This understandably had an effect on the unaccompanied and the treatment of them. The result shows that to be able to do something differently about the situation you have to talk about the problems to be able to take an action on them. (Less)
