This study examines the civil-military relations in Turkey during 1997-2016. The aim is to analyze the change in relations with the help of Rebecca Schiffs Concordance theory. Furthermore, given Turkey’s geographical position, the region’s instability, their membership in NATO and the membership process to EU it is argued that the influence of the outside world should be considered as a continuous factor when applying the given theory. The study concludes that there were changes occurring in the military, thus influencing civil-military relations in the past fourteen years. The... (More)
