The result of our study displayed that protecting the children is a method to regulate the child’s internet usage. The mothers believe that the child needs greater protection at a certain age. The older the child is, the more integrity the children will be assigned, whereupon older children will not be protected to the equal extent. Furthermore, our study demonstrated that the mothers experienced that the need of protection is essential to regulate and protect their children from certain content on the internet. The content that they choose to protect their children from differs depending on the gender of the child. However, we have not been able to demonstrate whether there is a difference between girls’ and boys’ need for protection. (Less)
