Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
In this project, I investigate how a single-family house can get additional qualities by making its constructive and structural components visible. I let the construction be present in the room and from it create spatial qualities. The goal is to do this in a way where the materiality and tectonics of the construction are present in the rooms and give the building additional qualities.
Initially I looked at Danish villas from the 1960s that I found to have these qualities. With them as role models I developed my own principles of design and spatial organization. The principles then guided the design process of a villa on a real-world site. In my work, I sought to make the physical properties of the materials visible and use the impression... (More)

The principles then guided the design process of a villa on a real-world site. In my work, I sought to make the physical properties of the materials visible and use the impression they give in the villa’s rooms and design. In design, supporting elements not only convey the structure of the room, but also contribute positively to its spatial qualities.
To further explore the possibilities of the principles and details I developed, I deconstruct the house and reuse them in smaller experiments. In two houses with different organizations I test what other spatial qualities and situations they can give rise to. (Less)
