- Abstract (Swedish)
(Less) - Abstract
- Organizational change is a common occurrence and frequently viewed as a necessity to survive. Unfortunately, attempts to change may often end up in failure, something commonly attributed to resistance to organizational change, a key factor being the individuals that constitute the body of the organization. Since they are both agents and recipients of change, their attitudes toward the change could potentially make or break it. These attitudes are assumed to be linked to their general dispositions. Hence, focus was on investigating relationships between resistance to change and general dispositions in terms of core selfevaluations, resilience and coping. These factors were selected based on their importance concerning individuals’ relation... (More)

These factors were selected based on their importance concerning individuals’ relation to adversity. The hypotheses assumed that core selfevaluations, resilience and problem-focused coping would be negatively related to resistance to change. Conversely, avoidance coping was assumed to be positively related to resistance. Questionnaires were distributed to participants in organizations in a process of change. 62 usable forms were returned. Results were in line with the hypotheses, implying a need to take individual dispositions into consideration during organizational change. (Less)
