- Abstract
- The purpose of the paper was to examine if there exists a relationship between social comparison on social networks and global self-esteem among high school students in Helsingborg. We we’re also interested in how social networks can affect the development of identity among high shcool students and in the long run, their global self-esteem. We used two surveys to examine the relationship, the INCOM survey which measures social comparison and the Rosenberg survey which measures global self-esteem. The participants included 65 high school students, aged 16-18, from Helsingborg. The result was analysed with a hierarchical multiple regression which controlled for gender, the analysis generated a significant result F (2.60) = 14.70, p<0.01,... (More)

The negativ relationship indicates a negative impact on the identity developement among youths. (Less)
