(Less)

Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to analyze whether there is a difference in the use of incentive programs between new and established companies operating within the health sector. Furthermore, the companies are examined based on their desire to attract, maintain and motivate their personnel and if their incentive programs’ correspond to the recommended programs within the selected research theory.

Methodology: A qualitative comparable documental study was created based on observations from the companies’ annual reports and websites. The thesis has a deductive approach since hypothesis was constructed through the theoretical framework to later on be compared to the reality.

Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework is constructed from Anthony et al.’s and Anthony and Govindarajan’s theories regarding incentive programs’ impact on their personnel. A new model was constructed by the authors based on this theory together with scientific reports.

Empirical foundation: The collected data mainly consist of information gathered from the twelve companies’ annual reports between the years of 2005-2016. The authors were able to define differences between the companies with regards to choice of incentive programs and their expectations to attract, maintain and motivate their personnel.

Conclusions: The result of this thesis illustrated differences between the companies regarding their use of incentive programs and their wish to attract, maintain and motivate personnel. These differences can depend on several reasons as active operating years, genre theory and their financial capabilities. (Less)
