- Abstract
- This thesis is about how to design a secure intersection for pedestrian and cyclists. There are many people that take the car to the work instead of cycling because they don´t feel safe on the way to work cycling. This thesis strives to show which measures there are to make both the intersection and bicycle path safer and with a better comfort. This thesis also evaluates the studies in the literature with actual examples. One part of this thesis is to do an inventory of a few intersections in Staffanstorps municipality. - This thesis is about how to design a secure intersection for pedestrian and cyclists. There are many people that take the car to the work instead of cycling because they don´t feel safe on the way to work cycling. This thesis strives to show which measures there are to make both the intersection and bicycle path safer and with a better comfort. This thesis also evaluates the studies in the literature with actual examples. One part of this thesis is to do an inventory of a few intersections in Staffanstorps municipality. The inventory shows that there are common problems with intersections on the countryside with pedestrians and cyclists. This thesis also answers to which measure that are suitable to use in the intersection to amend the intersection in Hjärup. That leads to a safer atmosphere for the pedestrian and cyclists to travel there. There are two suggestions on measures for the intersection in Hjärup. One is to transform the intersection to a roundabout with elevated crossing over the way, so the pedestrian and cyclists don´t have to use the tunnel that is a large detour. The second suggestions measure is to reduce the speed of vehicles and insert an elevated crossing, the same as in the roundabout, to improve accessibility for the pedestrian and cyclists. (Less)
