Abstract
This thesis aims to answer two questions in the context of a municipality in the south of Sweden, that is Kristianstad. The first question is if there have been any improvements of the students’ grades after a major mapping of the education quality in each school. Secondly, we want to evaluate the municipality’s model for resource allocation. Which variables have the strongest linear relationship with the grades of the students and should therefore be considered in the resource allocation?

By letting the grades of the senior students in elementary school during five years be the dependent variable our approach is regression analysis. After studying the data for the first question the conclusion is that there have been no significant... (More)

After studying the data for the first question the conclusion is that there have been no significant improvements of the students’ grades. However, it should be noted that the mapping was done recently and that there probably will be delayed effects. The second question was harder to answer. After using a multilevel model with varying intercept for each school our conclusion is that the model of the municipality, which takes into account for example if the student is born abroad and if the family of the student gets maintenance support, is hard to evaluate. High multicollinarity and violated model assumptions complicate the analysis. (Less)
