- Abstract
- Since the adoption of resolution 1325 there has been an increased focus on womens inclusion in peace processes due to her substantial contribution, as well as a characterized notion of womens particular exposure to sexual violence. Thus making an implicit connection between womens participation and the response towards sexual violence in conflict. In this essay we will challenge the assumption of the correlation between womens influence and the coping of sexual violence, in the aftermath of an armed conflict. Furthermore, the essay is based on a significant understanding of the differentiation between womens participation and womens influence, where the first does not per se increase the likelihood of addressing sexual violence.

This question will be studied through a comparative analysis between the male dominated peace process in The Democratic Republic of Congo (2003), and the gender positive peace processes in Liberia (2003). (Less)
