Associations between delay discounting, time perspective, financial and health choices
(2018) PSYP01 20172Department of Psychology
- Abstract
- Delay discounting and time perspective, two similar but not identical constructs, are associated with consequential choices in the financial and health domain. Six gaps in the literature comparing the predictive validity of delay discounting and time perspective are identified and their importance for longitudinal studies is discussed. The most extensive comparison of consequential choices in the financial and health domain and the use of a new delay discounting measure, the ToaD, are investigated to close these gaps. Implications for the longitudinal studies are that the three ZTPI scales should be included in longitudinal studies aiming to predict consequential choices.
