The economic impact of the informal institutions is often understudied in the scientific literature, when compared to the formal institutions. This paper aims to investigate how theformalized trust is connected to the rateat whichthe new businesses are created in various countries. This rate is an interesting indicator of the economic growth, especially when it comes to the developing countries. Naturally, one cannot disregard the environmental factors that affect this rate, such as the way the government functions or the way the governmental institutions are perceived by the people inhabiting these countries. The formal institutions will be given some attention in this thesis, however, the primary focus of this work isthe effects of trust acting as a form of informal institutions.
