Abstract
This quantitative study was conducted with the aim to inquire into Swedish 9th
graders’ attitudes towards traditional and digital news media and news outlets’
trustworthiness. With basis in strategic communication theories concerning gatekeeping,
the Bandwagon effect and filter bubbles, three research questions and four
hypotheses were designed. A statistical analytics were compiled from 189 online
survey replies from students in and around Helsingborg, Sweden. The results show
that Swedish 9th graders do in fact have an overall awareness of the presence of
Fake News in their daily news consumption, but the need to apply a conscious
source-critical review to what information they receive is limited. Rather, the students

Med utgångspunkt i strategiska kommunikationsteorier såsom gatekeeping, the
Eleverna
valde då hellre att... (More)

i tillförlitliga nyhetsmedier. (Less)
