Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine motivation of high school teachers in their daily work. The teachers in the study have been given an opportunity to reflect and describe their work motivation, how they experience their work and how their profession affects them personally. The survey has given a deep picture of the teachers' own experiences of their work situation. Through semi-structured interviews, six teachers have contributed to the study. They were chosen by a comfort- and snowball sample and come from three different schools in Malmö and surroundings. The teachers work with various subjects and have different length of working experience. The results showed that the greatest motivational factors include support from... (More)

The results showed that the greatest motivational factors include support from colleagues and management as well as social responsibility for the students’ personal development. The teachers also felt that they have too much administrative duties, which is at the expense of teaching. The teachers in the study find that they have enough opportunities to thrive and perform, but at the same time there is a need for improvement of the teaching profession in general. (Less)
