Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
Previous research has indicated that music is of great importance for how people regulate their emotions and it’s therefore worth exploring further. The current study aims to examine if there are connections between personality and how people use music to regulate their emotions. Previous research has found support for connections between personality and emotions in general but it’s not certain that these can be transferred to how people listen to music as well. 197 participants were recruited through the internet and were tested with the self-assessment forms Big Five Inventory and Brief Music in Mood Regulation. The results showed several correlations between the two tests but these only explain a small part of the variance. They match... (More)

The results showed several correlations between the two tests but these only explain a small part of the variance. They match previous research to some extent but also imply that there are unique ways in which music is used. However, the sample is restricting the representativeness of the results. Further studies are needed to clarify this as it is a complex field. (Less)
