Abstract
This thesis consists of a critical discourse analysis regarding the integration of asylum seekers and individuals with a residence permit in Sweden. Its analysis is divided into two parts; the first part focuses on how four Swedish authorities work together to integrate these individuals in Sweden. With a theoretical perspective from Sara Ahmed, Didier Bigo, Nirmal Puwar et al. this thesis has led to the conclusion where migration is perceived as a threat to nations. The Swedish nation's integration of this social group can be seen as a form of solution to the perception of danger. Furthermore, I come to the conclusion that there is an opinion among the Swedish Red Cross volunteers regarding how social and cultural forms of integration are needed to prevent asylum seekers and individuals with residence permit from passing as strangers in Western contexts.
