(2019) PSYK11 20182Department of Psychology
- Abstract (Swedish)

(Less) - Abstract
- Previous research has described poor working conditions as well as ambiguity regarding job tasks for personal assistants. The purpose of the study was to investigate how personal assistants experienced their psychosocial work environment. The survey examined the respondents’ experience of ERI and their levels of UWES, if ERI and UWES correlates, and if the respondents age had an impact on the results. The participants consisted of 31 personal assistants employed by a larger municipality in Scania.
The results indicate that the respondents experienced a positive imbalance regarding effort-reward and high levels of work engagement. There was a correlation between high levels of work engagement and positive imbalance of effort-reward. Older...
Older participants scored higher in both work engagement as well as a more positive imbalance of effort-reward. To conclude, personal assistants find that the effort they put in to their work is rewarded in a way that exceeds their efforts, and that they are able to experience high levels of work engagement. Due to the low amount of participants, the results of this study should be interpreted with caution. (Less)
