In analysing our results we applied Martin Buber’s theory of the two dimensional relationship, Roine Johansson’s view on Michael Lipsky’s theory of street-level bureaucracy and Greta Skaus definition of the concept of ”power” in order to illustrate the social workers’ experiences and constructions of the meetings with clients both in terms of personal and organisational factors. This study found out that despite the highly different views and values regarding the meeting with clients and the development of good client relationships, social workers which meet clients on a daily basis all focus on the individual need of every client in order to act in which way is best for that certain client. The attempt of this study is therefore to present the importance of social work professionals understanding the meaning of differentiating between what is a professional and what is a personal approach in the client meeting along with what role the organization plays in the client meeting.
