Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine how verdicts in the Swedish appeal court portrays the best interest of the child and child’s will in custody battles. This was explored through a qualitative content analysis and a thematic analysis of verdicts. This study was based on power perspectives. The results shows that the verdicts portrays the best interest of the child as individual based and having parents with the ability to care. According to the verdicts, it is also in the best interest of the child to have continuity and live in a conflict free environment.
