- Abstract
- This thesis purpose aims to examine if organizational reforms, connected to the concept of New Public Management, have led to quality differences in elderly care at the sub-national level. Theories that form the basis of the research problem are based on information problems and rationality linked to economic aspects. The hypothesis suggests that profit-making actors overlook the quality of welfare services within public institutions. To test the theory and hypothesis, a statistical analysis of the relationship between the proportion of private contracting by public procurement in the elderly care, and how satisfied the elderly are with the welfare services will be carried out. The results indicate that there is no explicit correlation... (More)

The results indicate that there is no explicit correlation between the variables within Swedish municipalities. The conclusion discuss why this might be the case, where it is argued that a wider perspective of quality and focus on understanding relations must be included to perceive the problem, and proposes some guidance how further research should address the research issue.
