- Abstract
- Losses of highly qualified employees pose a major threat to the survival of knowledge-intensive organizations in a highly competitive market. Despite this, not enough research has focused on psychological factors that can affect whether employees with expert knowledge choose to stay within their organizations or leave for other job opportunities. The current study investigated the associations between job satisfaction, job embeddedness and intent to stay at the current workplace in knowledge-intensive organizations. To examine the relationship between job satisfaction, job embeddedness and intent to stay at the current workplace, questionnaires were conducted in four knowledge-intensive organizations, which had offices in southern Sweden.... To examine the relationship between job satisfaction, job embeddedness and intent to stay at the current workplace, questionnaires were conducted in four knowledge-intensive organizations, which had offices in southern Sweden. Job satisfaction, job embeddedness and intent to stay were operationalized through existing surveys and previous research. Multiple regression analysis showed that there was a significant and positive relationship between job satisfaction and intent to stay, and between on-the-job embeddedness and intent to stay. Furthermore, a discussion was conducted on topics including destructive embeddedness, other factors that may affect the level of intent to stay, strengths and limitations in the current study, and suggestions for further research.
