- Abstract (Swedish)
Analysen av studien gjordes med utgångspunkt i Carol Bacchis policyanalys Seyla Benhabibs teori ”The Rights of Others” . - Abstract
- This study,”Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration- exkluding or including?”, has aimed to examine how irregular migrants are being excluded from the Global Compact for Migration, and which consequences the exclusion can bring for the migrants. My question for this study was ”In which ways has the political consensus for the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) isolated the irregular migrants?”. For the study, Carol Bacchi’s policy analysis and her analytical questions were used together with Seyla Benhabib’s theory about ”The Rights of Others”. By focusing on cosmopolitanism, sovereignity and international law, the study showed that irregular migrants are excluded from the GCM in a certain degree, consciously or... (More)

For the study, Carol Bacchi’s policy analysis and her analytical questions were used together with Seyla Benhabib’s theory about ”The Rights of Others”. By focusing on cosmopolitanism, sovereignity and international law, the study showed that irregular migrants are excluded from the GCM in a certain degree, consciously or unconsciously. The study concluded that the GCM indicates that migration has to be regular which indirectly means that irregular migrants have to become regular. Also, by not illustrating the differences between different types of migration and through explaining how migrants fall into a state of limbo between sovereignity and international law irregular migrants are excluded from the GCM.
