- Abstract
- Over the past decades, climate change has become a more pressing subject and the environmental aspect has become increasingly important in people's everyday lives. Therefore, the bicycle as a means of transportation has received more attention compared to before in the urban planning. In the limited urban space, it is an easy way to travel.

To illustrate this, Malmö City is used as a case study to investigate which strategies and measures they have applied to promote bicycle traffic. The thesis also examines the similarities and differences that exist between bicycling strategies at local and regional level.

To illustrate this, Malmö City is used as a case study to investigate which strategies and measures they have applied to promote bicycle traffic. The thesis also examines the similarities and differences that exist between bicycling strategies at local and regional level.
Through a qualitative text analysis, Malmö City and Region Skåne's planning documents were coded to find central aspects in their work on bicycle promotion. The analysis shows that Malmö City has established both physical and behavior-influencing measures to promote bicycle traffic in the urban space. Furthermore, there is some difference between bicycling strategies at local and regional level, but to a large extent, the methods are similar. (Less)
