Abstract
As the digital work environment is growing, the demands of usability and accessibility must be met with increasingly higher standards. This project was performed in collaboration with Assa Abloy Entrance Systems, a global provider of automatic entrances. The project purpose was to evaluate and develop the user experience and usability of a sales tool by mapping and understanding the users and their needs. This sales tool focuses on generating quotes for Assa Abloy Entrane Systems. By outsourcing the quotes from internal users to external users the efficiency in the organization would increase and the workload for the internal users would decrease.

As the digital work environment is growing, the demands of usability and accessibility must be met with increasingly higher standards. This project was performed in collaboration with Assa Abloy Entrance Systems, a global provider of automatic entrances. The project purpose was to evaluate and develop the user experience and usability of a sales tool by mapping and understanding the users and their needs. This sales tool focuses on generating quotes for Assa Abloy Entrane Systems. By outsourcing the quotes from internal users to external users the efficiency in the organization would increase and the workload for the internal users would decrease.

To achieve the project purpose a human-centered design approach was followed throughout the project to ensure a good work environment with proper usability when generating quotes. The users of the sales tool were identified through interviews and the target group was determined. The user experience of the current sales tool was analyzed through a heuristic evaluation and observations of the users. A project definition with a needs analysis was created to focus the scope of the project. Concepts were generated, tested and refined in three iterations to create an interface that fulfilled the project purpose.

According to the results, the project definition and all identified user needs were fulfilled by the proposed design. The project purpose of increasing the user experience and usability was therefore accomplished. From the results it was concluded that through a human-centered design approach, users experienced the program to be easy to use and felt more confident in generating their own quotes. If the final concept would be implemented and adopted, efficiency would increase since the external users would more confidently create accurate quotes without the assistance from internal users at Assa Abloy Entrance Systems. Detta projekt genomfördes i samarbete med Assa Abloy Entrance Systems som är en global leverantör av automatiska entrélösningar. Projektets syfte var att utvärdera och utveckla användarupplevelsen och användbarheten av ett försäljningsverktyg genom att kartlägga och förstå användarna och deras behov. Koncept genererades, testades och förfinades i tre iterationer för att skapa ett gränssnitt som uppfyllde projektets syfte.

Enligt resultaten var projektdefinitionen och alla identifierade användarbehov uppfyllda av den framtagna lösningen. Projektets syfte att öka användarupplevelsen och användbarheten var därför uppfyllt. Från resultaten drogs slutsatsen att genom en människocentrerad designprocess upplevde användarna att programmet var lätt att använda och de kände sig mer självsäkra i att skapa offerter. Vid implementering av det slutgiltiga konceptet skulle effektiviteten i organisationen öka eftersom de externa användarna självständigt kan skapa offerter utan hjälp av interna användare vid Assa Abloy Entrance Systems.
