- This master’s thesis examines the use of History Didactics and Humour in Internet memes. Memes with historical references combined with Barack Obama, former US president and current president Donald Trump were used to narrow down the vast number of memes available. The memes could be put into two groups; memes that created a more political point through the use of History, and those that created Humour through incongruity. The political memes, as previous research shows, are lacking Humour, which is the foundation of the other type of memes. The use of History shows that usage of ideological, political-pedagogic and moral is most common. It also shows a misuse and none-use of History. - Internenet och humor är något som historiker sällan undersöker. Detta främst då dessa skapar problem med hur man bör ta sig an dem. Frågor om detta skapar ett avvaktande från professionella historiker vilket i sin tur skapar ett problem då många intressanta frågor väcks om man som historiker verkar på internet. Det går att se en typ av material på internet med en tydlig koppling till både humor och historia. Detta material kallas för memes, vilket är en typ av bild- eller videomaterial som blandar olika typer av innehåll för att skapa skämt. - Internenet och humor är något som historiker sällan undersöker. Detta främst då dessa skapar problem med hur man bör ta sig an dem. Frågor om detta skapar ett avvaktande från professionella historiker vilket i sin tur skapar ett problem då många intressanta frågor väcks om man som historiker verkar på internet. Det går att se en typ av material på internet med en tydlig koppling till både humor och historia. Detta material kallas för memes, vilket är en typ av bild- eller videomaterial som blandar olika typer av innehåll för att skapa skämt. Genom att blanda olika händelser eller citat skapas oväntade och i sin tur skämtsamma kombinationer. I denna uppsats har denna typ av kombinationer undersökts. Genom att undersöka memes som kombinerar historiska personer eller händelser, med nutida citat eller politiska frågor har resultatet visat att humorn skapas av att nu och då kombineras på oväntade sätt.
En annan viktig del av denna uppsats berör hur historien i dessa memes förmedlats. Det är inte endast humor som går att se i dem. Så kallat historiebruk, går även att hitta. Detta berör hur historia används för att skapa mening på olika sätt. Ett politisk-pedagogiskt bruk, där historien används för att skapa politiska poänger på ett tydligt men lättförstått sätt är den vanligaste typen av bruk. Detta hänger samman med det ideologiska historiebruket, där historien används för att stärka en maktposition. Dock sker detta inom memes på ett motsatt sätt, där internetanvändare snarare använder memes att försvaga eller förlöjliga makten. Även ett moraliskt historiebruk, där historien ska synliggöras och handlingar i det förflutna ska ”stå till svars” idag, går att se. För professionella historiker kan memes i sig ses som ett så kallat historiemissbruk, då de lånar och kombinerar historiska händelser friskt. Detta vore en alltför snäv tolkning, då det snarare har med memes form att göra. I vissa memes går det dock att se att vissa delar av historien medvetet har ”glömts bort” vilket visar att ett missbruk eller så kallat icke-bruk har gjorts.
Denna uppsats visar att internet kan vara en mycket bra plats att undersöka frågor som berör historieförmedling. Hur memes förstås beror mycket på så kallade historiekulturella markörer. Historiekultur ska förstås som det som bestämmer vilka delar av det förflutna som ännu är aktuella frågor eller vad som glömts bort. För detta krävs ett historiemedvetande. Detta finns inom historiekulturen och hjälper oss att förstå var och varför vi befinner oss i ett visst historiskt sammanhang. På så sätt visar internet och humor att det är viktiga frågor att ha i åtanke om man är intresserad av hur historia förmedlas utanför skolväsendet eller på högskolor. (Less)
