Abstract (Swedish)
This Master Thesis describes the product development process of creating a product with the aim of preventing and removing spiders obstructing the image of surveillance cameras. The project was conducted on behalf of Axis Communications AB, which is a market leading company in network cam- eras.
The thesis consist of two main parts. The first part contains a background study of the problem, an investigation of different methods and concepts for repelling spiders. The part ends up in a solution suitable for the chosen camera and its environment of use. The second part consists of testing and development of the chosen concept in order to create a prototype which works as close to a finished product as possible.

The part ends up in a solution suitable for the chosen camera and its environment of use. The second part consists of testing and development of the chosen concept in order to create a prototype which works as close to a finished product as possible.
The final concept utilizes an existing weather shield designed for the P3235- LVE network camera and gives it the ability to rotate in order to repel and remove spiders. By rotating the weather shield at certain times of the day when spiders tend to build webs more frequently, spiders should be repelled by the unattractive environment it causes. The concept is based on the theory obtained from scientists within the area of arachnology. When removing the spiders’ first threads, the spiders will search for new environments since the production of web is extremely energy demanding.
The result of this thesis introduces a new way of keeping spiders off surveil- lance cameras, but also rejects some theories that has believed to be effective. (Less)
