Research on the influences of absolute income and income satisfaction on residents’ happiness in China
(2019) EKHS51 20191Department of Economic History
- Abstract
- With the “maximum utility” theory, it is reasonable to believe Chinese residents are having a happier life than ever thanks to the rapid economic growth as well as their absolute income growth in China. But here in this study I proved it wrong, what really matters is the income satisfaction on the higher probability of happiness. This study is based on the data from Chinese General Social Survey in the year of 2010, 2013 and 2015 with an ordered logit model. Hence we see the marginal effecting is increasing
also, which indicates that 1% increase in the income satisfaction will lead to a positive increasing on the probability of happiness in China.
