The study’s result showed that the school counselor experiences both large and limited discretion because their mission was vaguely worded. In collaboration with teachers, which is a part of the school counselors mission, the discretion appeared to be limited because both teachers and school counselors had different ideas of how the school counselor should work. In the meeting with students, school counselors’ latitude was limited by the notification requirement, because they risked to lose the students’ trust. (Less)
