Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
Integration of history of physics (HOP) in the teaching of physics has been studied for a long time and to a great extent. There is a widespread support of the fact that history of physics can have many desirable effects on students learning and motivation. This positive picture is seemingly not shared completely among physic teachers and to implement history to the physics classroom has been showed to have many challenges.
The purpose of this paper was to investigate how great the extent is on the usage of history of physics among a selection of physics teachers in Sweden, the rationale of using history of physics and what advantages and disadvantages/obstacles they see. 38 physic teachers participated in a survey, all of them where... The purpose of this paper was to investigate how great the extent is on the usage of history of physics among a selection of physics teachers in Sweden, the rationale of using history of physics and what advantages and disadvantages/obstacles they see. 38 physic teachers participated in a survey, all of them where members of a closed forum on a social medium which consisted of about 1200 members. The result showed that this group of physics teachers had a positive attitude against using HOP and most participants stated that they used HOP a couple of times per course area. The reason they choose to integrate HOP, and the advantages they saw, was an increased interest and the connection to nature of science (NOS). The teachers in the study also stated that HOS is not prioritized, that the time was an obstacle and that they lacked the necessary skills to teach HOP. The overall result of this study concurred with, and thereby support, previous research. (Less)
