- Abstract
- This study’s purpose was to gather Swedish immigrants’ stories about integration connected to the labour market. The data was gathered through ten semi-structured interviews with immigrants participating in labour market activity. To interpret them Honneth’s theory about recognition were mainly used, but also an intersectional perspective to understand the difference within the group. The conclusion conducts that language knowledge and work are the main factors mentioned by the immigrants as important for their integration process. The immigrants also expressed that they were met with different obstacles on their way to achieve work and language knowledge, such as a discriminating labour market and “swedes” reserved behaviour. These obstacles also changed their career goals after migrating to Sweden.
