Abstract
Background: The current lack of knowledge among entrepreneurs to manage the e-commerce market has created an increased need for incubator activities and the support that incubators can assist entrepreneurs with. Incubators intend to contribute with support for companies by assisting with various services where the success of business development can lie in different combinations of these services because incubators differ. Also, incubators should help to guide companies in all factors on the market that companies need to take into account. In connection with e-commerce development, incubators need to keep an updated range based on the current needs to ensure that the services are value-enhancing and / or adapted to the desired needs.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to contribute to a better understanding of how an e-commerce incubator can serve as a support function for entrepreneurs to develop their newly started e-commerce companies. Furthermore, the study aims to investigate how an e-commerce incubator is adapted to the changing needs and challenges of entrepreneurs to help the e-commerce companies to develop.

Boundaries: This study is limited to examining how the service is perceived as providing support and helping entrepreneurs to develop their e-commerce. Furthermore, the study is limited to an e-commerce incubator and its activities.

Method: 9 semi-structured interviews with participants and alumni on an e-commerce incubator in Helsingborg have been conducted. The collected empirical material has then been analyzed based on our theoretical frame of reference. Based on the analysis, the study has since resulted in a final discussion with answers to the study's questions.

Results and conclusions: The main support of an e-commerce incubator turned out to be gathering entrepreneurs with similar challenges in the same place to share knowledge and counteracting loneliness, where the manager themselves are entrepreneurs in the area. Furthermore, the study showed how an incubator focusing on e-commerce intends to adapt to the needs and challenges of its participants.

Suggestion for future research: For further research, we believe it would have been interesting to study the difference between incubators that are free, and incubators that costs. It would have been interesting to investigate what the distribution of incubator resources would have been like to develop the incubator’s support to be adapted to all needs and wishes of the participants.
