The theoretical framework is based on previous research on entrepreneurial urbanism as well as theories on sense of place and power relations. Using a qualitative method, a number of documents produced by Malmö municipality related to Norra Sorgenfri, have been analysed through document analysis and coding. Based on the coded material, patterns related to the theme of sustainability were identified. These patterns are presented and discussed in relation to the theoretical framework. With the help of vague signal words and illustrations, the municipality seems to aim for multiculturalism and inclusiveness. The municipality seems not, however, to have taken the point of departure in the needs of the people when creating the vision. Rather, the thesis suggests that the municipality aims, more narrowly to prioritize to market Norra Sorgenfri as part of an attractive inner-city area, in competition with other cities. (Less)
