Abstract
Due to the era of digitalization increased demands have been set upon businesses to stay up-to-date, being adaptive, flexible and innovative which contributes to a higher focus on learning at the workplace. To cope with these demands organizations have begun using e-learning platforms. This study is based on a case where we, in collaboration with a global organization, have been looking closer at a group of leaders’ experiences regarding their usage of the e-learning platform LinkedIn Learning. In connection to a leadership program specifically designed to give their leaders the sup-port they need in this change process LinkedIn Learning was introduced to them as a self-learning tool. The aim of the study is to identify the obstacles and opportunities that these leaders experience in relation to (e-)self-learning and furthermore discuss potential areas of improvement. Eleven qualitative interviews were made to answer these questions. The results of the study are showing that there are several factors that are hindering the leaders. Their work situation, the unclear purpose of why LinkedIn Learning is being used and that the e-learning resource is not integrated in a learn-ing process. The opportunities show that when leaders cre-ate a learning process around the e-learning resource then the learning process can be more effective and meaningful. Areas of improvement is to better integrate e-learning to workplace learning and to have a clearer purpose. The re-sults suggest that this would allow for more sustainable learning. (Less)
