Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Four themes were identified: Navigating a threat, Responding actively, Internal strategies and Seeking support. Results from the study indicated that the participants took potential risks and their own resources into consideration when choosing coping strategies. Participants also described coping strategies related to adapting to the source of stress. Lastly, participants mentioned aspects of minority stress that required support from others with similar experiences in order to be managed. The study underscores the importance of understanding how gender and sexual minorities cope with minority stress in order to better design interventions aimed at preventing and counteracting the negative impact of minority stress on the mental health of this group.
