- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between self actualization, social comparison, including upward and downward comparison, and different types of motivation as defined by the proposed causality orientations within self determination theory. Data was acquired through a survey distribution. The sample consisted of a convenience sample (N=131). The results, from a correlational analysis, showed significant correlations between self-actualization and upward assimilation (r=-.49), upward contrast (r=.-.35), downward assimilation (r=-.26) and downward contrast (r=.41). The results concerned with motivation and social comparison showed a significant correlation between impersonal causality orientation and general... (More)

Impersonal causality orientation also had significant correlation with all directions for social comparison. In the discussion departing from the results it’s argued how various motives for comparison mediates the relationship between self actualization and social comparison. (Less)
- Abstract (Swedish)
I... (More)

(Less)
