badplatser i Göteborg då vattenkvaliteten i Göta Älv
kallbadhusets... (More)

upplevelsebaserade rumsligheter, där det skandinaviska
kallbadhusets grund kompletterats med rum som inkorporerar
exotiska badseder. (Less)
Abstract
The City of Gothenburg has expressed a desire to introduce
more public bathing locations in Gothenburg as the water
quality in the Göta River is improving. The old ferry-point
is in need of development and there is a possibility to
contribute with something new for the city. The work explores
spatial answers for how Scandinavians can practice exotic
bathing rituals. It would make these rituals accessible for more
individuals whilst the area can become a destination in itself.
How can a fusion of exotic bathing cultures be applicable in
a Scandinavian context, and what are the spatial answers for
that?
The project is based on study visits and a retrospective
preliminary study that compares different bathing cultures.

The building resulted in experience-based spaces where the
Scandinavian open-air-bath were complemented with themed
rooms that incorporate exotic bathing rituals. (Less)
