Abstract
The planning process involves the production of a vast amount of data by different actors. During the evolvement of a detailed development plan the municipality relies on data from geographic information system (GIS), while the developer produces data by building information modeling (BIM). The development of systems for GIS- and BIM-data have been parallel and for different purposes. The municipality of Malmö has recently started a project which aims to use 3D BIM- and GIS-data seamlessly in the development project Nyhamnen. With inspiration from this project, this thesis investigates how the different data types can be integrated in the detailed planning process. Furthermore, different requisites for a digital development are being... (More)

Furthermore, different requisites for a digital development are being identified. Data is collected from a literature study, interviews and municipal documents. The result shows that 3D GIS- and BIM-data supports collaboration between actors, re-usage of data and cost-minimization within development projects. However, the practical usage of 3D-data is coupled with several technical and organizational obstacles. (Less)
