The theoretical framework consists of Perroux theory regarding growth poles, on human capital as well as on how to make an attractive city for the creative class based on Florida. The results suggest that the university plays an important role and supports the whole regional development. It educates people, creates direct and indirect employment, attracts young people to the region and helps the region to achieve economic growth. The new university area has also given the university a new face outwards and helped the city to profile itself more as a university city. It has also become an attractive urban place for meetings and community. (Less)
