Hållbara telefoner inom verksamheter - En studie om användandet av mobiltelefoner hos företag och hur valet av mobil kan ske med hänsyn till hållbarhet

- Abstract
- The cell phone industry is one of the most linear sectors, which means high resource consumption in the production of telephones and difficulties in repair. In addition, only 10-12% take-back of used units takes place, the rest are often forgotten in drawers or handled incorrectly. An interesting area of research is how companies can make their choices to reduce the life cycle environmental impact created by the manufacture of phones. The aim of this study is to investigate if it is best for companies to buy or lease business phones in regards of the environment and the economy. Also, it analyses if Samsung Galaxy, iPhone or Fairphone is most durable in terms of its service life, cost of repair and request on the secondary market.

The aim of this study is to investigate if it is best for companies to buy or lease business phones in regards of the environment and the economy. Also, it analyses if Samsung Galaxy, iPhone or Fairphone is most durable in terms of its service life, cost of repair and request on the secondary market.
The key findings of this study show that for the environment and the economy it is best for business to buy reused phones. However, for companies that demand special functions on their phones this might not be the most ideal, since the hardware and software of the device will not be compatible with each other over time. Furthermore, iPhone is the most expensive brand to repair, but it is the most wanted brand on the secondhand market, which indicates that it has a longer lifetime than Samsung Galaxy. There cannot be any conclusions regarding Fairphone, as it has not come out on the secondary market yet and therefore further research is needed. (Less) - Popular Abstract (Swedish)

Om man studerar vilket telefonmärke som är mest populärt på andrahandsmarknaden så är iPhone mest hållbar. När en telefon är mer attraktiv så innebär det att fler önskar sig den och därmed kan enheten få en längre livslängd. Om det undersöks vilken telefon som är billigast att reparera så är Samsung mest prisvärd. Desto lägre reparationskostnad, ju mer villig är ägaren att reparera den. Båda dessa aspekter resulterar i längre livslängder för telefonerna, vilket minskar resursförbrukningen som skapas vid tillverkning av nya smartphones. Vad studien även resulterat i är att företags val av tjänstetelefoner kan leda till att de anställda införskaffar egna telefoner om de inte är nöjda med modell på tjänstetelefonen. Det är därför viktigt att verksamheter lyssnar på sin personal, innan de tar beslut om detta. Företagens storlek avgör ofta om det är bäst att leasa eller köpa telefoner, men oavsett detta så är det miljömässigt bäst att återanvända smartphones. Det stora problemet är att efter några år har många av telefonens funktioner försämrats vilket gör att de inte alltid duger till vissa företag. Att funktionen blir sämre beror på att telefonföretag sällan skapar smartphones som är anpassade till kommande uppdateringar. Detta innebär på att oavsett vilken telefon du väljer, så finns det ingen telefon som anses som hållbar i detta hänseende.
Denna studie kan användas för att få förståelse för hur komplex telefonbranschen är och för att få en inblick hur företag kan vara både ekonomisktoch miljömässigt smarta för att bidra till en cirkulär ekonomi och tjänstetelefonhantering. (Less)
