- Runtom i världen arbetar människorättsorganisationer för att fler ska åtnjuta sina mänskliga rättigheter. Att aktivitet resulterar i långsiktig förändring är av intresse dels för organisationen ifråga men även för finansiärer och målgrupper. Att mäta effekt av insatser har dock visat sig vara svårt. Mot bakgrund av det är syftet med uppsatsen att undersöka hur tre organisationer (Amnesty International, Oxfam International och Plan International) förhåller sig till effektmätning. Att aktivitet resulterar i långsiktig förändring är av intresse dels för organisationen ifråga men även för finansiärer och målgrupper. Att mäta effekt av insatser har dock visat sig vara svårt. Mot bakgrund av det är syftet med uppsatsen att undersöka hur tre organisationer (Amnesty International, Oxfam International och Plan International) förhåller sig till effektmätning. Med avstamp i organisationsteori och tidigare forskning ämnar uppsatsen besvara frågeställningen: Med vilka metoder och för vilka syften säger sig människorättsorganisationer arbeta med effektmätning? För att närma sig de olika beståndsdelarna bryts frågeställningen ner i de två delfrågorna Hur samlas data? och Hur används data? Primärmaterialet, som i huvudsak består av rapporter, strategiska mål och organisationsberättelser tillgängliga på respektive organisations hemsida, analyseras med hjälp av innehållsanalys. I och med uppsatsens avgränsningar görs inte anspråk på att dra generella slutsatser. Resultatet av analysen visar dock på stora svårigheter vad gäller att veta vilka metoder som används. Det är således svårt att fullt ut besvara delfrågan Hur samlas data? Vad gäller uppsatsens andra delfråga Hur används data? uppvisar organisationerna flera likheter. Främst förefaller organisationerna använda effektmätning för att lära och möjliggöra ansvarsutkrävande. (Less)

- Throughout the world, human rights organizations are constantly working to ensure more and more people can utilize their inherent human rights. These global organizations, along with investors and target groups, strive for permanent results. However, measuring the impact of these organizations’ interventions has proven to be very difficult. Therefore, the purpose of this bachelor thesis is to investigate how three organizations (Amnesty International, Oxfam International och Plan International) associate with impact evaluation. Building upon organizational theory and previous research, reports, strategic goals, and annual reviews are analyzed using a content analysis methodology. Thus, this study aims to explore the question: With which methods and for what purposes do human rights organizations claim to work with impact evaluation? In order to fully cover each individual section, the question is broken down into the two sub-questions: How is data collected? and How is data used? Considering the limitations of this study, general conclusions cannot be definitively drawn. The analysis, however, displays some unforeseen difficulties in knowing which exact methods are actually used. Consequently, it is difficult to fully answer the sub- question: How is data collected? Concerning the second sub-question: How is data used?, the organizations exhibit several similarities. The most distinguishable similarity across these organizations is the common use of impact evaluation to learn and enable accountability. (Less)
