"Developmental Assets" refer to a series of relevant experiences, relationships, skills and values that can effectively promote the healthy development of children. They are social and psychological strengths that can enhance the healthy development of children and adolescents. Studies have shown that having sufficient developmental assets can develop children's competencies, skills and values, reduce their high-risk behaviors, increase their positive behaviors and promote their positive and healthy development.
Migrant children group has become the focus of social concern. When migrant children move to cities, they will face pressure and influences from various aspects such as study, life and social inclusion. Their developmental assets are insufficient and unbalanced, which are much less than those of local children. This is bound to affect the long-term positive and healthy development of migrant children.
Based on this, this paper focuses on the developmental assets of migrant children. By comparing the developmental assets of migrant children and local children, I try to comprehensively understand the insufficiency and differences of the developmental assets of migrant children and also the causes. I also try to find out the needs of developmental assets building of migrant children. On this basis, this paper discusses how school social work could be involved in migrant children's developmental assets building.
I conducted a questionnaire survey on 231 students in grade 4 and grade 5 of YF primary school, and made statistical analysis on the data using Stata 13. Here are basic conclusions :1.The overall developmental assets of migrant children are insufficient and unbalanced. 2.There are significant differences between the overall and various levels of developmental assets of migrant children and local children. 3.There are gender and grade differences in the development assets level of migrant children.
