Abstract
The demand for improved digital learning tools has increased over the recent years, and got an additional boost from the Covid-19-pandemic. Many companies use artificial intelligence to improve their systems, one use case being question generation. However, artificial intelligence technology has advanced so quickly that other research fields such as user experience has not been able to keep up.

The demand for improved digital learning tools has increased over the recent years, and got an additional boost from the Covid-19-pandemic. Many companies use artificial intelligence to improve their systems, one use case being question generation. However, artificial intelligence technology has advanced so quickly that other research fields such as user experience has not been able to keep up.

This thesis - which was done in collaboration with Sana Labs AB - therefore aims to develop and implement a user experience in the form of a tool that can generate questions. This was carried out through a design process in four phases. Initially, research was conducted in order to discover the needs of potential users of a question generation feature. Thereafter, prototypes were developed in an iterative process, and then the final prototype was implemented in code. Lastly, the implementation was evaluated through usability tests and resulted in a tool for question generation that was well received by the participants. (Less)
