Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
The aim of this study has been to examine the way non-profit organizations and municipal administrations work with digital exclusion amongst their clients, what the factors for digital exclusion can be and what the digital development looks like. The study was performed using a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews. In total six people were interviewed, three from non-profit organizations and three from municipal administrations. With the help of Pierre Bourdieu's theories, and Donald Broady’s thesis, about cultural capital, social capital, habitus, and field as well as Ole Petter Askheim and Magdalene Thomassen’s explanation of the theory of empowerment we could analyze the empirical result. With the help of Pierre Bourdieu's theories, and Donald Broady’s thesis, about cultural capital, social capital, habitus, and field as well as Ole Petter Askheim and Magdalene Thomassen’s explanation of the theory of empowerment we could analyze the empirical result. The result showed that factors for digital exclusion seem to be related to age, homelessness, lack of income, language difficulty, and addiction. The result also showed that lack of knowledge about digital tools seemed to be a leading cause of digital exclusion. When it comes to how non-profit organizations and municipal administrations work with digital exclusion the result showed that it all depends on the resources, access, and knowledge about digitalization within the organizations and administrations. A commonality between all interviewees was the wish to collaborate between different organizations and administrations. The development of digitalization work with the clients varies depending on the resources. Some have plans to start up projects where they can help clients with basic technological problems and others have plans to continue and grow their collaboration projects. (Less)
