The study is based on empirical material collected through observations, interviews and self-assessed diaries by the participants on their respective domestic labour. The theoretical framework is primarily based on the feminist scholar Sara Ahmed’s queer phenomenology on the concepts of lines and orientation. Additionally, her understanding of emotions as emerging in the relation with objects is considered as well. By dividing the analysis in four different themes – The project leader in the relationship, In my way, Different levels of demands, The small things - the questions at issue are dealt with in a multifaced and dynamic manner. In conclusion, the results show that the role of the project leader is distinctly captured by the female participants. They are themselves aware of their tendency to take more responsibility of the planning as compared to their boyfriends. But this does not necessarily imply that they think they stand for more of the total sum of the everyday unpaid domestic labour. One of the male partakers was well aware of the perception that his partner takes the main responsibility of daily planning. Furthermore, feelings of negativity tend to stick to defined objects somehow related to domestic labour. However certain tasks are associated with positive feelings when executed in the participants own way of doing. (Less)
