Mot bakgrund av USA:s viktiga roll i världspolitiken och speciellt i Mellanöstern och dess konflikter är uppsatsens syfte att undersöka USA:s flerfaldiga politik rörande Israel-Palestinakonflikten mellan 2000–2020. Syftet uppnås genom att besvara frågorna om hur USA har agerat i förhållande till konflikten mellan 2000–2020, vilka motiveringar USA har för sitt agerande samt hur USA:s politik kring konflikten kan förstås. Undersökningen avgränsas till resolutioner som USA har blockerat i säkerhetsrådet mellan 2000–2020 och till två amerikanska fredsplaner. Detta undersöks genom en kombination av motiv- och innehållsanalys.

Because of the important role that the United States plays in the politics of the world, especially in the Middle East conflicts, the purpose of this study is to analyze the U.S. multiple policy on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict between 2000-2020. The purpose of this study is achieved by answering the questions about how the U.S. has acted in relation to the conflict between 2000–2020, how the U.S. justifies its actions and how the U.S. policy towards the conflict can be understood. The study concludes that the U.S. has multiple policy towards the conflict based on various internal and external factors which influence American policy.
