Purpose: The purpose of the study is to, through a survey of elite football associations, provide a picture of the governance of organizations, active in industries with characteristics consisting of risk, complexity and unpredictability.

Methodology: The thesis is a qualitative research study based on conducted interviews and previous scientific research. Five semi-structured interviews were conducted, the data of which were then analyzed using selected theories.

Theoretical perspectives: “Management Control Systems” by Malmi and Brown (200() discusses the control package that can be applied in different organizations. Fisher's “Contingency theory” (1998) is a theory that states that the design and use of a control system that depends on the organization's area of work and context. This study aims to research how these theories can be applied in elite football associations.

Empirical foundation: The selected study objects are Malmö FF, Jönköpings Södra IF and Trelleborgs FF as well as SvFF, which acts as an expert throughout the study. The information provided from all study objects has contributed to further analysis of the football industry.

Conclusion: The study concludes that management control within the elite football associations is relatively similar and is based on how large the equity is. It is also reasonable to conclude that organizational governance is based and shaped according to the existing regulations and the characteristics of the industry. (Less)

(More)

(Less)
