- Abstract
- By creating our own measure of cost efficiency we were able to examine the relation between competition and cost efficiency in the swedish upper-secondary school body. We conclude that there is no obvious connection between the two and that, as such, we cannot establish a positive or negative effect of competition on cost efficiency. When examining the methodological choices of our paper we discuss the compromises made to ensure a reasonable scope for the analysis. We determine that these do not threaten the integrity and reliability of our results to a degree large enough to render our analysis redundant. This by extension gives us some reason to question whether privatization in public administration holds up to the promises made by its proponents.
