Abstract (Swedish)
Kvalitén i
(More)

effektivitet i denna riktning. (Less)
Abstract
The purpose of this pilotstudy was to evaluate Marte Meo in a context of child and youth psychiatry from an unexplored perspective. The quality of
coparenting is considered to be an important promoter of consequent and
sensitive parenting but there is no knowledge of whether the Marte Meo
intervention affects this important factor. Therefore, this study’s aim was to investigate whether parents undergoing the Marte Meo intervention
experienced increased quality in their coparenting after they finished treatment.
Parents to children with behavioral problems who underwent the Marte Meo

Parents to children with behavioral problems who underwent the Marte Meo
intervention (N=17) participated in the study through completing various
measurements pre and post treatment. In addition to parents’ experience of
coparenting, children’s symptoms and the parents’ mental health issues were
also examined. The study shows promising results of the Marte Meo treatment
in the parents’ experienced quality of coparenting, especially in terms of
communication and cooperation, as well as in the children’s internalized
symptoms. However, the parents’ mental health did not change to the same
extent. The result suggests that coparenting might be a factor which is possible to impact in a relationally focused interaction treatment with emphasis on the parent-child relation. Thus, coparenting might be a relevant goal of treatmentin Marte Meo and there are good reasons for an extensive controlled study of its effectiveness. (Less)
